Hi!

My name is Jan Holthuis, I’m 18 years old and i live in Germany. I’m using Linux and Free Software (you know, free as in free speech, not free beer^^) for more than 3 years now. My first steps were on a SuSE system. Later, I switched to Mandriva. I also tried various other distributions, but they didn’t fit my needs (or I’m just too stupid to use them =)).

UPDATE: I’m currently testing Linux Mint, which is a really nice distro based on Ubuntu. Unfortunately I have some problems with APT. Nevertheless I think I will continue using it.

I started programming in 2004, when i started developing Web-Pages with PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. In 2005 I came across ActionScript (which is the JavaScript-like programming language of Adobe Flash). I was also doing some Java (only the basics) and i’m currently learning Perl (which is not really hard, because i already know PHP).
